My 85 year old uncle is a fiercely independent gentleman who has lived in his home for over 50 years. As he’s aged he has experienced some physical decline. His brain and ability to manage his financial affairs is superb.
He requires meal preparation, companionship, and a driver to run errands and a listening ear when he becomes anxious and concerned about the future. He will not however, tolerate anyone telling him what he could or should do in his home. Love and support are the essence of what he needs.
